ALGONQUIN — The hunting of wolves and coyotes will no longer be allowed in Algonquin Park

The province instituted new regulations last week, which prohibit the hunting and trapping of wolves and coyotes in four Provincial Parks throughout Ontario. These new rules have been introduced in order to help protect Ontario’s threatened Algonquin wolf population, which has been steadily declining. It is now illegal to hunt and trap coyotes and wolves in Algonquin, Killarney, Kawartha Highlands and Queen Elizabeth II Wildlands Provincial Parks and in several zones bordering these parks.
